Summer is here and it is time to adjust your lawn watering schedule.

In South Florida, Mother Nature takes care of a good part of your lawn’s water needs, but irrigation is an important part of keeping your lawn green and healthy.

We tend to water our lawns year-round in South Florida, but be aware — watering schedules should change seasonally. Your lawn needs more water in the summer than in the winter — but not too much.

Overwatering can cause your beautiful green lawn to turn brown and ugly, and can cause long term problems for the grass roots, increase weed growth and promote unwelcomed fungus infections. Additionally, overwatering can cost you a lot of money if you are using municipally supplied water.

People often ask “How often should I water my lawn?” Every case is different, depending on your type of grass, soil condition, and amount of recent rain.
